8 Month Stats

Finally got Violet to the pediatrician the other day for her 6 month check up ... except she was four days shy of 8 months.  Eh, life got busy and she's wasn't sick {until yesterday} so there was never really a reason to take her, AND oh yes I forgot.  I guess I shouldn't leave that part out.  The doctor said she was in the 60th percentile for height and weight among those her age and in the 80th percentile for head {she reassured me that was all brain and fabulous hair}.  Her doctor was happy to know Violet's a classified piggy and is sleeping through the night.  Here are Violet's stats at "almost" 8 months:

-18 pounds and growing
-27 inches tall
-crawling everywhere
-pulling up on her knees and feet
-fearless {crawled off the step onto the balcony the other day}
-follows big sister everywhere
-favorite singer, Miss Etta James ... she's moved on from Amy Winehouse
-7:30pm bedtime
-6:30-7:30am wake up time {without interruption}
-eats anything and everything ... no picky eater this time around
-able to pick up food with her fingers and has moved from puree to chunks of "real" food now {and yes, this has at times included smiley fries}
-is very, very Mommy dependant {meaning, she will literally cry if I leave the room; this is not an exaggeration}
-downs about 4 bottles a day {4-6 ozs at a time}
-favorite times of day are bathtime and bedtime
-thinks her sister is the bees knees ... which she totally is

Some photos I got with my phone while at the pediatrician ... where believe it or not, Violet showed her first signs of being a shy girl.  Grr.

Had To Share

Juliet was too busy shielding herself from the water sprays to enjoy the waterfall at the boardwalk.  Such a girl.  While I captured the moment from my view, my girlfriend captured the moment from her view.  Thanks Lorrie; too cute.

Sharing A Bedroom

Finally we've got the girls' room organized ... only two weeks until we move again, but so what?  Juliet was happy to have all her books and flash cards back where she could get to them and her My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake collections set up with perfection.  OCD a little?  Here are some photos while the room remained sparkly clean.

Can't forget Violet's side of the room ...

Puzzles

Violet got a one on one puzzle lesson from her big sister today.

I'm not sure she learned much ... her attention span was only so-so ...

New Orleans Marathon

A collection of pictures from Chris's marathon {26.2 mile run} in New Orleans this weekend WHICH I'm proud to say he finished in 4:20:34.  Now I must forewarn you, while looking through these pictures you may wonder where are the pictures of Chris running?  Well, they are no where and I've been beating myself up about it all weekend.  Unfortunately we didn't see him start OR finish yet we were in the designated places with our eyes pealed BOTH times. Talk about frustrating but what's worse is Juliet {who'd been practicing for 4 hours to say "good job Daddy, you're almost there"} not getting to say it {although she yelled it to every man and woman wearing a white hat and red shirt like Dad}.  Next time we will GPS Chris the entire way.

3 Months For Zoo; 7 Months For French Fries

The girls and I made the trek to the zoo in Tyler, TX with my good friend and her son today.  The kids had such a good time and the weather couldn't have been better.  It cracks me up when I think about how eager I was to take Juliet to the zoo for the first time.  Basically I was using the excuse of having a child to go to the zoo for my own nerdy animal viewing pleasure.  So what if she was only 3 months old?  She NEEDED to go.  But to see her now running around, naming the animals and buckling herself {obsessively I might add} in the wagon is pretty cool.  And there's no prouder moment for a mother then when she witnesses her little princess boss around a boy her age {well on second thought, seeing my 7 month old today snatch a bucket containing french fries out of her older and much stronger sister's grasp to chow down on those salty potato sticks like she was a relative of Chris Farley ALMOST topped my most proud moment}.  Of course with Juliet being older, it also makes the trip more expensive; I have to feed her now and have to of course get her the to die for flamingo cup with her meal PLUS a wagon {because how dare I imply she walk the entire time} ... you know how it is.  As long as she stays short I'll continue to not have to pay her entry fee so that thought still keeps me smiling.  Here are some photos from today's fun.  Thanks Lorrie and Wyatt for making the trip with us.  We're going to miss you two so much.
