Fun Summer Hair Wrap | How To
My girlfriend and I use to make these wraps every summer while camping on Orcas Island. Lately I've been braiding Juliet's hair to 1. keep it out of her eyes and 2. make her look just like "punzel". Doing these tiny braids over and over again reminded me of these wraps, and what better time to try it than summer time? Juliet and I went to pick out colors and she happily watched an episode of Peppa Pig while I "wrapped her up". It took me about 20 minutes. If you're interested, here's what you'll need and a step by step of how I did it. It's super easy IF your subject will hold still {there's always a catch, I know}.

What you'll need:
Sewing thread {any color, but only up to four different colors}, scissors & a patient subject ... preferably with hair.
1. separate the section of hair you'll be working with from the rest {you can do the wrap right on top of the head in full view, or in the midst of the hair like we did}.
2. braid the section of hair {any size braid will do depending on how subtle you want the wrap}.
3. tie the thread tight at the top of the braid leaving about an inch of thread to hang down loose around the braid.
4. one color at a time, wrap thread around braid tight to desired color length {covering up the remaining loose thread from previous tie off}. Then tie off and cut when done.
5. repeat with next color.
I tied the bottom of Juliet's braid with a teenie, clear rubber band hair tie and ended her wrap at that point. The wraps hold up for up to a week. Wash hair regularly during that week.
They're sort of funky, but SO cute. Juliet's been showing everyone her "wap like punzel". Have fun!
Mobile Monday {finally back}
It's been a while but I'm going to try to keep it up this time now that I have my templates back. Our life this past week in instagrams ...

Coeur d' Alene Ironman
Stats for Chris's Ironman in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho:
2.4 mile swim - 1:32:45
112 mile bike - 6:55:45
26.2 mile run - 4:50:54
140.6 miles with a total time of - 13:43:38
Our 5am pre race game faces ...
The girls' 5am game faces ...
The swim portion started at 7 o'clock. This was all I got {with my phone}. We were parked on a slop on the beach so I had one foot propped against Vi who was playing in the sand while simultaniously digging for snacks for Miss Juliet while trying to keep an eye on the swimmers coming out of the water so I didn't miss Chris. ALL in the rain. I DID eventually see him as he got out of the water and ran up to the transition area ... but no photo. I did take a video of the start! It was amazing ...
Inbetween events we played ...
And then we met up with family who were eager to join in on all the cheering {and help me with fussy pants Violet}.
Even sweet 94 year old GG came to cheer her ironman on ... and eat ice cream.
And then we were back to our duties as spectators ...
On his way to the finishline ... since both girls were behaving I was able to get out the Canon.
After the race, finishing at an amazing time {faster than his estimated} with his Vi ...
Proud Mama and Dad ...
And my favorite shot of the evening; Chris with his medal. No goofy faces, no funny pose ... just proud. As he should be. Love you Chris ... your Conant girls are so incredibly proud. Your dedication is so inspiring.
